Sweet Sister

My lonely devil came upon me only to say,
"Listen well sweet little sister to my truth,
Surely you need no other on this dreary day,"
Whispered so smooth so very smooth with couth.

Ever gentle whispers to keep loneliness at bay,
Soaking my soul with words sweet as vermouth.
Giving over to her friendship asks for no pay
And returns those full feelings of my old youth.

A friend, a dear friend on this lonely day,
She cost not a red cent nor asks an eye-tooth,
"Others speak of love but only bring dismay,
Listen well sweet little sister of my untruth."
