Back in 1818 when Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin-Shelly published her literary
masterpiece ~ Frankenstein ~ she unknowlingly started a following of fans
that eventually would come to number in millions of people worldwide today.

It is believed Mary Shelly may have been inspired to write to her novel about
the creation of life by a visit to the ancient ruins of the Frankenstein Castle
and estate along the Rhine river during an 1814 European tour with Percy
Shelly, her husband to be with a rather interesting history of his own.

It dates back to the Thirteenth Century and was built for
the Baron von Frankenstein and his knights.

Wolfgang Goethe lived near the ruins during the creation of his epic work,
~ Faust ~ and often read excerpts from the story to his friends gathered by
the Frankenstein Cliff showcased by a Linden tree forest. Goethe's character,
Faust, sells his soul to the Devil in exchange for the secrets of life's creation.

inspired numerous poems and prose written over the
past two thousand years including some Roman prose.

Boris Karloff gained worldwide fame in his acting portrayal of the Frankenstein
monster although he had very few spoken lines amounting to no more than a
few halting words and ample roars. Can you name the actor who played the
role of the monster's creator, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, in the original movie?
