Sarah leading a few million people creates a vast network capable of reaching out to tens of millions of Americans with ease. Networking is almost exclusive to women; we are exceptionally talented at connecting with others, women and men alike. Palin has potential to command more than enough voters to make a strong run for presidency and probably will win the presidency.
More impressive, she is assertive, aggressive and fearless. She does not mince her words, she speaks truth and those qualities are precisely what today's Americans want. This is well evidenced by Sarah completely overshadowing the recent Republican Governors Association (RGA) conference down in Austin, Texas. Sarah gamed this just right and gave the RGA a well delivered slap across the face by arranging a large shipment of her books, at a discount price, for the RGA to sell at fundraisers. Palin timed the release of her book to have her stand over the RGA like the giant she truly is. Her shipping books to the RGA forcefully inserts herself inside the RGA and places the RGA in a position of campaigning for her; the RGA could not say "No" without looking stupid.
Follow along here, my intent is not to insult rather I am being realistic. Say the word "Republican" to just about any average American and an image pops into mind, "old, fat white boy" more often labeled a "Good Ol' Boy". This is the image Republican leaders have earned for themselves and any Republican leader who denies this is not being truthful, although this would be comical for Michael Steele to deny this. No insult Michael, just a bit of black humor from a red skinned girl.
Republican governor Haley Barbour is the president of the RGA. He is out of Mississippi. You readers have a look at Barbour. He is the perfect portrait of a southern Good Ol' Boy and he is just such.
Take a look at Barbour. Take a look at Palin. Which of the two would you want watching your back?
Past few days and now, I am giving close attention to what Barbour is saying about Palin and what he is not saying. Quite clear Barbour is not saying. Equally clear, Barbour is working at keeping Palin out of the GOP and is working at indirectly insulting her. Barbour is a true-to-form misogynist Good Ol' Boy who believes women have no place in politics. I know his type well, I grew up with boys just like him; decades of experience.
Chris Matthews pointedly asked Barbour if he thinks Palin is qualified to be president, asked him twice and the second time assertively demanded an answer. Both times, Barbour deliberately avoided this question and both times Barbour deliberately insulted Sarah Palin. Barbour, on national television, displayed a stereotypical behavior of a misogynist Good Ol' Boy.
This is a very bad image for the GOP and this image is how many Americans see the GOP.
The GOP is working at attracting in Republican women for leadership roles. The GOP concedes there is a problem, and the GOP is failing to resolve this problem of conservative women being shunned by the GOP. Adding to this failure, Barbour has angered a lot of conservative women and Barbour has really angered those millions of Palin supporters.
By not strapping both a leash and a muzzle on Good Ol' Boy Barbour, over the last few days the GOP has lost any support of Palin's vast network of supporters, predominately women.
Sarah Palin is truly a barracuda. She timed her events to overshadow the RGA meeting, successfully drew media attention to herself and away from Republican governors, and to add a slap, now has the RGA selling her books for her, campaigning for her.
Good Ol' Boys are simply no match for sharp and shrewd Sarah Palin.
Sarah will continue to position herself, will continue to build her vast power base, build her network, and will continue to outfox the GOP at every turn. Sarah is outrunning and out distancing the GOP.
The GOP has two choices. The GOP can smarten up, embrace Sarah, learn from Sarah, draw power from Sarah, or the GOP can continue to be old, fat white boys stumbling along while huffing and puffing trying to catch up with Barracuda Sarah.
Personally, I choose Sarah to watch my back, I know I can trust her. This trust of Sarah is
millions strong and growing.
