Today, the South Carolina Supreme Court ordered Governor Mark Sanford to accept stimulus funds from Obama, federal strings and all. This court order is based upon an inclusion Obama wrote into his stimulus package which allows a state legislature to overrule a governor on Obama stimulus funds. Obama included wording which specifically provides for governors to be legally forced to accept Obama stimulus funds.
Other words, Obama wrote his own law for our nation, independent of legislators, independent of our courts. Today, Obama's personal law is enforced.
Governor Sanford is the most vocal about Obama's economic policy not being good, most vocal about protecting 10th Amendment state sovereignty rights and most vocal about our federal government imposing upon states. Sanford fought for his principles all the way to his state's supreme court; he walks the talk.
Sanford argues accepting federal stimulus funds will inflict additional debt upon states when federal funds expire. This is a valid point of creating new state government programs because of federal stimulus funds, then later having to pay for those new programs which a state did not want to create in the first place.
More succinct, new higher taxes for state residents.
Today, Octobama slithered one of his long tentacles into South Carolina, around the neck of Governor Sanford, then choked the good governor into silence. Next move of Octobama is attaching some of his suckers to the very financial lifeblood of South Carolina.
I have a hunch the next state to be slimed by an Octobama tentacle will be Sarah's Alaska.
Sarah packs a moose rifle, you know. This might prove to be quite the fight for Octobama.
